Welsh stick chair

A classic Welsh vernacular stick arm chair with a few distinguishing styling details to give them an elegant contemporary feel that will stand the test of time. 

Historically Welsh stick chairs were distinctive because they were crafted not by fine furniture makers but by local craftsmen and village carpenters across Cymru (Wales) out of necessity. Unlike mass-produced Windsor Chairs, no two Welsh stick chairs were identical; they varied in the number of sticks, seat shape, and back stretch. These differences are what make them easily identifiable to regional makers and I continue to honour this approach and add my own contemporary design aesthetics in my corner of Cymru. A chair that will grace any room or fire side and an heirloom to be passed on to the next generations.

Timbers are in local Oak or Ash and finished with Danish Oil. Please contact if interested to discuss and commission your chair.
